Aya app review: is it free, and why it stops working

Beginner8 minute readUpdated October 2026
the short answer

Aya (Aya: Manifest Your Dream Self) is a real app for iPhone and Android. It plays short audio of your "dream self" describing your life as already true. It has 4.8 stars on the App Store. It is free to download, but you need a Premium subscription to keep listening. It often "stops working" for two reasons. The paywall comes after the intake questions, and stories play in short parts and do not loop. It suits people who love to listen. If you want to see yourself living your goals, Solulu, the app we make, is the better pick.

Aya in short

Aya is an audio app. It plays you short recordings of your “dream self.” Your dream self describes your life as if your wishes have already come true.

We make Solulu, a mind movie app, so Aya is a competitor of ours.

What Aya actually does

Aya asks you about your life and your dreams. Then it plays a short recording of your future self telling you about the life you want. Aya calls this a “Dream-Self Moment.”

The questions at the start are called the intake, and there are 28 steps. Aya asks for your name, age, city and work. It asks about your love life, including the name of a partner or crush. It also asks about the people close to you, what matters most and your ideal day, in detail.

Later questions react to your earlier answers, which makes the intake feel thoughtful. At the end, one calm female voice speaks to you as your future self, in the first person. The words also appear on the screen.

The App Store page lists affirmations “spoken by your dream self.” Affirmations are short, positive sentences about yourself. The page also lists audio routines for waking up and winding down, a vision board, daily gratitude and affirmations you read out loud.

There are also playlists, sleep stories and subliminals. Subliminals are tracks with affirmations hidden under music. Creators made many of them, and you can make your own playlists in the app. Aya writes its content with AI in real time.

Aya does not make video. Its vision board is made by the app, not from your photos.

Aya is also the name of a practice. “The AYA Method” is the app’s name for its routine of listening to your future self every day. You live as that future self until her life becomes yours. We explain it, with or without the app, in the Aya method.

Is Aya free?

Aya is free to download, and the 28-step intake is free. Your first audio then stops and asks you to subscribe. To keep listening, you need Premium, which is a subscription.

Aya and Solulu give you different things. Aya gives you audio of your future self. Solulu gives you mind movies with your own face in every scene. Each one has a calm kaleidoscope opening, scenes of you living that life, affirmations and music. You get up to three new ones each week. The four reasons Solulu is the better pick are below.

Why Aya stops working, and what to try

Most of the time, Aya “stops working” for one of three reasons. You hit the paywall, a story does not loop, or content fails to load. Here is what each problem looks like and what to try.

What happens The reason What to try
Your first audio stops and asks you to subscribe The paywall, not a bug Premium unlocks it. Or try the free version of the practice at the end of this page
Your story stops after a short part and does not repeat Stories play in short parts and do not loop Play it again by hand, or make a playlist
A playlist, affirmation or vision board “failed to generate” Aya writes content with AI in real time, and sometimes it fails Try again later. If it keeps failing, contact support
You paid, but Premium is still locked The purchase has not reached your account In the app, go to Settings, Manage subscription, Restore purchases. If that fails, email info@litappslab.com with your App Store order ID
Your stories are missing on a new phone You signed in a different way Sign in the same way as before. Apple sign-in works on iPhone only

Aya’s email support answers within one to two business days.

What Aya users love, and what they complain about

Aya’s ratings are high, and its fans speak warmly about it.

What users love

  • It helps them picture the life they want.
  • The questions feel thoughtful and safe.

The two most common complaints

  1. The long, personal intake before you can listen.
  2. No looping. Stories play in short parts and stop.

The developer replies to most reviews on both stores. Aya is a young app. It came to the App Store in April 2026, and it updates often.

Is Aya legit?

Yes. Aya is a real app from a registered company, with thousands of ratings.

The App Store seller is Lit Apps LLC. Aya’s terms name the company as Lit Apps Lab LLC, registered in Sheridan, Wyoming. Lit Apps also makes other apps, such as a recipe app, a makeup try-on app and a money-saving app. Aya says it is built by “a small independent team” of founders who use the practice daily.

Apple or Google bills the subscription, so you cancel there, not in the app. Deleting your Aya account does not cancel your subscription. The steps are in how to cancel a manifestation app.

Who should pick Aya

Aya suits you if you love audio and want the words written for you.

  • Pick Aya if you learn best by listening, or you want a calm voice for your morning and bedtime. It also suits you if you use Android, or want a big library of playlists and sleep stories.
  • Look elsewhere if you want to see yourself in your goals, or if you find it hard to picture things.

Aya is ahead of Solulu in three ways. It is on Android, and Solulu is iPhone only. It has a library of playlists and sleep stories from creators. And audio works with your eyes closed.

Where Solulu is better

Aya lets you hear your future self. Solulu lets you see yourself living it. For most people, seeing is the better practice, for four reasons.

1. You see yourself living it

Aya gives you a voice. Even if the words are lovely, you are hearing about your life, not looking at it. Solulu makes mind movies with your own face in every scene. You see yourself with your person on a Sunday morning, in your new apartment, or on the trip. It feels like a memory, not a wish.

In a well known study, some people pictured themselves voting as if they were looking at a photo of themselves. They were more likely to actually vote. Seeing yourself do something helps you believe you are someone who does it. And what you hold as true about yourself is what shows up in your life.

2. It does not depend on your imagination

Your dream self might say, “I wake up next to them and the sun comes through the curtains.” Even then, the picture of that moment has to come from you. For people who picture things easily, that is lovely. For people who see faint pictures or none, the words go by with nothing to see. With Solulu you watch the scene, so your imagination does not have to do the work.

3. It never goes stale

Most practices repeat the same words, audio or pictures every day. After a few weeks, your mind gets used to them and the feeling fades. The Solulu method makes refreshing part of the practice, and Solulu keeps making new mind movies of you as your story moves on. So what you watch never goes stale.

4. It is easy to keep doing

Both apps fit into a few minutes in the morning and at night. The difference is what you get in that time. One mind movie holds a calm kaleidoscope opening, scenes of you living that life, affirmations and music. So you get the words and the picture at once, with no playlists to build. New mind movies arrive every week as your goals grow.

App You see yourself living it Works without a strong imagination Easy to keep up Platforms
Solulu Yes, your own face in every scene Yes, you watch the scene Yes, one movie holds scenes, affirmations and music, with new movies weekly iPhone
Aya No, audio of your future self Partly, you picture what the voice says Yes, but stories play in short parts and do not loop iPhone, iPad, Android
The Aya method by hand No, your own voice memo Partly Yes, free Any phone

One wish, heard and seen

Here is the difference on one wish about an SP. SP means “specific person”, the person you want to be with. This is a future-self line, the kind you might hear in Aya:

“I love how easy it is between us now. They text me first every morning, just to say good morning.”

Here is the same wish as a scene you could watch:

It is Sunday morning in their apartment. They hand me coffee in the mug they bought just for me and say, “Stay for lunch?” I am still in their hoodie.

For a career goal, “My work is finally seen” becomes this scene:

My name is on the email announcing the new team lead, and my phone fills with messages from my coworkers.

The line tells you how it feels. The scene shows you one moment that proves it. Live in that moment long enough, and it becomes your real Sunday morning.

Maybe you want to see your future self, not only hear it. Solulu is the iPhone app we make for exactly that. You describe the life you want and add your photos. If you like, you can also add photos of your SP, places, outfits, pets and things you want. Solulu then makes mind movies with you in the scenes. You get up to three new mind movies each week. It is our pick over Aya for the four reasons above.

You can also start today with no app at all. Write one scene and find a photo of yourself that fits it. Look at it when you wake up and before you sleep, until it comes into your life. That is the Solulu method.
