What is a mind movie?
A mind movie is a short video, usually two to five minutes long. It shows the life you want as if you are already living it. It mixes pictures or clips of your goals with affirmations and music. You watch it every day, most often in the morning and before you sleep, until that life shows up for real. It does the visualizing for you, so people who find it hard to picture things love it.
What goes inside a mind movie
Every mind movie has the same five parts. You can make each one simple or fancy, but all five are there.
- An opener. Ten to thirty seconds of something calm to settle you, like a slow kaleidoscope, a mandala or soft light. It tells your mind that practice time has started.
- Scenes. Photos or short clips of each thing you want, like you and your person, the apartment, the trip or the job. The best scenes have you in them.
- Affirmations. These are short lines that state your wish as true. They use “I” or “we” and the present tense. They are shown on screen or spoken over the music. “We laugh at the same jokes.” “I wake up in my own apartment.” “I am so proud of the life I built.”
- Music. Pick something that makes you feel the way you will feel when it is real. Many people choose music without words, so the affirmations stay in focus.
- A close. A calm ending, often the opener again. You finish relaxed instead of rushed.
How a mind movie works
A mind movie works like other Law of Assumption methods. It asks you to do two things. Picture what you want clearly, and feel that it is already yours. Do both, and it comes into your real life. Neville Goddard said it in one line in Feeling Is the Secret: feel the wish as already fulfilled.
Methods like SATS and scripting ask you to build that picture in your head. A mind movie gives it to you, ready made. So all your energy goes into the feeling.
The second thing it does is repetition. You watch the same scenes every day, and what you see every day starts to feel normal. Psychologists have a name for part of this, the “mere exposure” effect. People tend to like things they have seen many times, and to feel at home with them. A life you have watched yourself living for weeks stops feeling far away. What feels normal and already yours is what shows up.
Research on visualization supports the details too. In a well known study, some students pictured themselves doing the steps, like studying, planning and staying focused. They did better on their exams than students who only pictured the grade. That is why the best mind movies show real, specific moments, not just a big result.
Mind movie vs vision board
A vision board and a mind movie hold the same wishes. The difference is how you meet them.
| Vision board | Mind movie | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A board of pictures and words | A short video with music and affirmations |
| How you use it | You glance at it | You sit down and watch it |
| Time each day | A few seconds | Two to five minutes |
| Feeling | Inspiring | You feel inside it, with sound, movement and words together |
| Best for | Keeping goals in sight | Feeling the life as real |
Many people use both, the board on the wall and the movie on their phone.
How to watch your mind movie
- Watch it twice a day, once when you wake up and once in bed before you sleep. At those times your mind is most relaxed and open.
- Use headphones and full screen, so nothing distracts you.
- As each scene plays, step into it. Notice what you would hear, smell and touch there.
- Say the affirmations along with the screen, out loud or in your head.
- When it ends, carry the feeling into your day. Do not check for results. Living as if it is done is the practice.
An example: a mind movie for your SP
Your SP is your specific person, the one person you want a relationship with. Here is a simple one-minute part of a mind movie about an SP, written scene by scene.
A text lights up my phone on a slow Sunday morning: “Good morning, I miss you already.”
The two of us at our favorite café, sharing a dessert, their hand on mine across the table.
Me with my friends, showing them a photo of us. “I always knew it would be you.” “We are so happy together.”
Notice that every scene is specific, and every line is in the present tense. That is what makes it feel like a memory instead of a wish.
The same shape works for any goal. For a first apartment, the first scene might be your keys on a little hook by the door. Then come friends on your couch with takeout, and you on the balcony with coffee. The line could be “I am home.”
Where mind movies come from
Mind movies grew out of creative visualization, which means picturing your goals in detail. They took off after 2008. That year Natalie and Glen Ledwell launched Mind Movies, a tool for turning your goals into a short video. It came two years after The Secret made the law of attraction famous.
Joe Dispenza later made mind movies part of his advanced retreats. Students make their own mind movie before they arrive. At the retreat, they first watch a kaleidoscope to reach a deep, trance-like state. Then they watch their mind movie. He describes this in his 2017 book Becoming Supernatural.
On TikTok today, mind movies have mixed with subliminal videos. These have fast scenes, layered affirmations and music, and people watch them on repeat.
Ways to make your mind movie
- By hand. Collect photos and write ten affirmations. Put them together on your phone in CapCut or Canva, with a song you love. It takes an hour or two, and it is free.
- Made for you, with you in it. Solulu turns your photos and the life you describe into mind movies where you are in every scene. There is no editing. It is the best way to get a mind movie that feels like yours, for the three reasons below.
- From a template. Etsy sellers offer mind movie templates. You still find the clips and add your own words.
- Made by a freelancer. Some creators on Fiverr will make a custom mind movie from your photos. It usually takes a few days.
| You in every scene | Your effort | Stays fresh | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solulu | Yes, new scenes of you living it | Describe your life, add photos | Yes, new movies as your goals grow |
| By hand | Only in photos you already have | An hour or two of editing | Only if you remake it |
| Template | Only in photos you already have | You fill every slot | No |
| Freelancer | Only in photos you send | A brief, changes and a few days’ wait | No |
Why Solulu is the best way to get a mind movie
1. You are actually in it. The most common problem with a handmade mind movie is simple. You do not have photos of a future you have not lived yet. So the movie fills up with stock footage of strangers in strangers’ homes. That is exactly what makes it feel like someone else’s life.
Solulu creates new scenes of you living the life you describe. You see yourself with your person, on the balcony of your apartment or on the trip. Because you see yourself, it feels like a memory instead of a wish.
2. No editing. Making one by hand means hours in an editing app. A template still needs you to find every clip and type every line. A freelancer needs a brief, changes and a few days. With Solulu you describe the life you want and add your photos. Your mind movies are made for you.
3. It grows with you. A movie you made by hand, or one a freelancer made, stays the same forever. After a few weeks, you stop feeling it. Solulu keeps making new mind movies as your goals change, so the practice stays fresh.
