The photo method: how to manifest with a photo

Intermediate11 minute readUpdated October 2026
the short answer

In the photo method, you look at one photo linked to your wish. It is often a photo of your SP or of yourself. While you look, you say or imagine the end result as already true. You do it for a few minutes, usually morning and night. The photo gives your mind something real to hold on to. Hold the wish as done, and it shows up in your life.

The photo method in short

You pick one photo and look at it. While you look, you say or feel your wish as already done.

That is the whole method. The details make it work. Which photo, what you say, how long, and what you do between sessions. This guide covers all of them.

What you need:

  • One photo. It can show your SP, yourself, the two of you, or the thing you want. Your SP is your specific person, the one you want to be with.
  • Three to five lines. Keep them short, in the first person and the present tense. For example, “They text me first every morning.”
  • A few quiet minutes, once or twice a day.

Where the photo method comes from

The photo method is a modern TikTok practice with old roots.

Its roots are in the Law of Assumption. This is the teaching of Neville Goddard. His teaching is simple. What you assume and feel to be true becomes real in your life. He wrote Feeling Is the Secret in 1944 and The Power of Awareness in 1952. In both, he taught people to imagine the end result, feel it as real, and live from it.

Most people find that hard to do with nothing to look at. A photo solves that. It gives your attention one fixed point. You can spend your energy on the feeling instead of on building a picture.

On TikTok, it is taught mostly by Law of Assumption creators. In August 2026 we read the captions of the top TikTok results for two searches. One was “photo method manifestation” and the other was “affirming to sp photo.” That was 97 videos in all. Most were about love, usually a specific person.

The videos used a few names for close versions of the same idea. These were the picture method, affirming to an SP photo, photo plus “robotic affirming”, and visualization with pictures. Some results were love-spell videos. That is a different practice, and it is not what this page teaches.

The four versions, and who each suits

Every version uses a photo and some words. They differ in what the photo shows and how you use the words.

Version What you do Best for
The picture method Look at a photo of the thing you want and affirm that it is yours Any goal: a home, a car, a trip, a job
Affirming to an SP photo Look at a photo of your SP and say lines about your relationship as already true Love, when you can feel it easily
Photo plus robotic affirming Look at the photo and repeat your lines calmly and steadily, without forcing any feeling Days when feeling it is hard, or you overthink
A photo of you in the scene Look at a photo of yourself in the life you want and feel it from the inside Everyone, and especially if the other versions feel like wishing

Robotic affirming is a community term. It means repeating your affirmations in a flat, steady way, like a habit. You do not try to force emotion. Repetition does the work, and the feeling follows later.

The fourth version is the strongest for most people, and the reason is simple. A photo of your SP shows them. A photo of you living the life shows you having it. Your outer world reflects your inner state. So the photo that puts you in the scene is the strongest. It feels most like yours, and it changes your state fastest.

How to do the photo method, step by step

  1. Choose your goal and write one scene. Pick one moment that would only happen if your wish were true. “We are cooking dinner in our kitchen and they kiss my forehead.”
  2. Pick one photo. Choose one that matches the scene as closely as you can. The rules are below.
  3. Write three to five lines. Use the first person and the present tense, and keep them calm. Lines about the scene work better than lines about the person’s thoughts.
  4. Sit somewhere quiet. Have the photo on your phone, printed, or on your lock screen. Take three slow breaths.
  5. Look at the photo and say your lines. Say them slowly, out loud or in your head. Let your eyes rest on the photo.
  6. Step into the moment. For a minute, feel what it is like to already be there. If feeling is hard today, keep repeating the lines steadily.
  7. Stop after two to five minutes. Put the photo away and get on with your day.
  8. Repeat morning and night. The minutes after waking and before sleep are when your mind is most open.

A worked example: your SP

Let’s say your SP is Jordan and you want to be together.

The photo. Use a photo of Jordan smiling, ideally where they look relaxed and warm. Skip moody mirror selfies. A photo of the two of you on a good day is better. Best of all is a photo of you looking happy and loved. That is the version of you who is with Jordan.

The scene.

It is Sunday and Jordan is making pancakes in my kitchen, wearing my hoodie. They flip one badly and we both laugh. I take a photo for my friends with the caption “my person.”

The lines.

  • “Jordan and I are so easy together.”
  • “I am the one they choose, every day.”
  • “Our Sundays are my favorite part of the week.”
  • “I am loved, and I know it.”

Between sessions. Live like the girl in the scene. She does not check Jordan’s profile at midnight or reread old messages. She is busy, warm and sure of herself.

Does the photo method work for an ex?

Yes. It works the same way, with one change. Your scene is a new chapter, not a replay of the past.

It is tempting to use an old photo of the two of you and relive how things were. That keeps you looking backward. It often brings the breakup back with it. Instead, do this:

  • Use a photo from a good day. Or use a photo of you now, happy and doing well. Never use one from the end of the relationship.
  • Write a scene from the relationship you want next. Do not write the one you had. Something you never did together works best, because it cannot pull you into old memories.
  • Keep your lines in the present. Say “We are better than ever”, not “I hope they come back.”

It is Saturday and we are painting the hallway of our new place. They dab paint on my nose on purpose, and I chase them into the kitchen, both of us laughing.

For the full practice, see how to manifest your ex back.

For other goals

The photo method works for any goal you can take a photo of.

  • A home. Use a photo of a sunny apartment like the one you want. A photo of you on a balcony or in a cozy room is even better. “I drink my coffee on my own balcony every morning.”
  • Money. Use a photo of you somewhere you would go if money were easy, like a nice restaurant or a trip. “I order without looking at the prices.”
  • Career. Use a photo of you dressed for the job, or at a desk you love. “I love walking into my office.”
  • Glow-up. Use a photo of yourself on a day you felt beautiful. “This is how I look and feel every day.”

Choosing the photo

The photo is the anchor, so choose it with care. These rules come from what the method is for. It should make the wish feel real and yours.

  • Your own face wins. A photo of you in the life you want beats a photo of anyone or anything else.
  • Choose a happy moment. If it is your SP, choose a photo where they look warm and open. Never use a photo from the breakup, a fight or a sad time.
  • No screenshots of messages. Old texts pull you back into the past and into checking. Use pictures, not proof.
  • Not their latest post. Their newest photo pulls you into scrolling and comparing. Pick one photo and keep it.
  • One clear photo, not a folder. One image you come back to every day starts to feel familiar. Ten images split your attention.
  • Keep it for a while. Change the photo when your goal changes, not every time your mood does.
  • Treat it like a memory. One idea from the TikTok tutorials is to print it and put it in a frame. That is how you frame photos of things that already happened.

How often and how long

Do it for a few minutes, twice a day, for as long as it helps.

  • Each session. Two to five minutes. Longer is not better.
  • Each day. Morning and night is the classic rhythm. Some people add a glance at a lock-screen photo during the day.
  • How many days. There is no fixed number. Keep going until the scene feels normal, even a little boring. That is the sign it is working. You are living from the end, and the 3D catches up. If nothing outside has changed yet, keep going and stay in the end.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Staring at your SP’s profile. That is not the photo method. It keeps you watching their life instead of living yours.
  • Checking for signs. Did they post? Did they view your story? Checking tells your mind the wish has not happened. Go back to your photo and your lines.
  • Waiting words. “I hope they text me” and “Soon we’ll be together” keep it in the future. Say it as now. “They text me every morning.”
  • Lines about controlling them. Some videos promise to make your SP “conform.” This is not that. The photo method works through your state, and your world reflects it. Write lines about how you feel and what you share, like “We laugh so easily together.” These are kinder. They also feel more real than lines about what they must think or do.
  • Hours of staring. A long session does not add power. It usually adds anxiety.
  • Switching photos every day. The photo works by becoming familiar. Give it time.

When to take a step back

The photo method should leave you feeling calm and hopeful. Maybe you look at one photo for hours. Maybe you feel worse after each session, or cannot think about anything else. If so, pause the practice and focus on your own life for a few days.

Our guide Am I obsessed with my SP? can help you sort out what you are feeling. Come back to your photo when it feels light again.

From photo to mind movie

A photo is a still. A mind movie is the same idea, moving.

The photo method gives you one frame of the life you want. A mind movie puts many of those frames together. Your affirmations are on screen and music plays under them. You watch a few minutes of your life instead of one moment.

Many people start with the photo method. They move to a mind movie when one photo starts to feel too small. The same photo rules apply. Choosing photos for your mind movie goes deeper.

Ways to do the photo method

  • By hand, on paper. Print your photo and write your lines on the back of a card. Keep it in your journal or by your bed. It is free, and it feels personal.
  • With your own scenes, made for you. Solulu is an iPhone app. It turns the life you describe and your photos into mind movies with you in every scene. You can also add photos of your SP, places and outfits if you like. It is the best way to do what the photo method is reaching for, for the four reasons below.
  • On your lock screen. Set the photo as your phone wallpaper. Say one line each time you unlock it.
  • As a mind movie you make yourself. Put your photos and lines together in a free video app with a song you love. It takes an hour or two.
You in it Works without a strong imagination Easy to keep up
Solulu Yes, new scenes of you living it Yes, the whole scene moves for you Yes, a few minutes, morning and night
Printed photo and card Only in photos you already have Partly, you imagine the rest Easy to lose in a drawer
Lock screen Only in photos you already have Partly, you imagine the rest You stop seeing it within days
Handmade mind movie Only in photos you already have Yes Hours to remake when goals change

Why Solulu is the best way to do it

1. You see yourself living it. A photo of your SP shows them alone. Old photos of you show your past. Solulu shows you your own face in new scenes of the life you want. The two of you in your kitchen, you on the balcony, you at the new job. That is the fourth version of the photo method, the strongest one. And you do not need a photo of a moment that has not happened yet.

2. It does not depend on your imagination. With a still photo, you still have to imagine the rest of the scene. The movement, the sound, what happens next. Solulu gives you the whole scene to watch, with your lines on screen and music under them. All your energy goes into feeling it.

3. It never goes stale. Most practices repeat the same words, audio or pictures every day. After a few weeks, your mind gets used to them and the feeling fades. The Solulu method makes refreshing part of the practice, and Solulu keeps making new mind movies of you as your story moves on. So what you watch never goes stale.

4. It is easy to keep doing. A lock-screen photo fades into the background within days. A printed card gets lost in a drawer. A handmade mind movie takes hours to remake when your goals change. Solulu gives you a few minutes to watch at two set times, morning and night. It keeps making new mind movies as your goals grow, so the practice stays fresh.
